Gandhis made a mistake by not attending the Thackeray oath-taking ceremony?

Uddhav Thackeray created history by becoming the first Chief Minister of the Thackeray family in an oath taking ceremony held at the historic Shivaji Park. And as much as both CM Uddhav Thackeray and NCP President Sharad Pawar wanted the Gandhis to attend the ceremony for a picture-perfect Maha Vikas Aghadi, they remained absent. Disappointed both Thackerays and Pawars, sources say.

RAHUL GANDHI ADVISED SONIA GANDHI TO REMAIN ABSENT AT THACKERAY OATH-TAKING CEREMONY
Senior leaders of the Congress say that it was Rahul Gandhi’s decision to not attend the ceremony as he believed that standing in the same frame with Uddhav Thackeray would do irreparable damage to the secular image of the Congress, especially as more than the BJP it was Uddhav Thackeray who stood up for Ayodhya and has been more than vocal on bringing Hindutva forces together.

MAHA CONGRESS LEADERS DO NOT AGREE WITH GANDHIS ON THIS ONE
However, those within the Congress who do not agree with Rahul Gandhi, question, “We have been taking a beating election after election, which means that masses do not resonate with secularism like before. Also, what is the point of entering the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance and still attempting to maintain distance? We either be in it 100% or we don’t be in it at all.”

SHIV SAINIKS DISAPPOINTED WITH GANDHIS ABSENCE
On the other hand, Shiv Sena leaders say, “Uddhav ji has proven he is the new Chanakya of Maharashtra. He has become Chief Minister and fulfilled late Balasaheb’s dream of giving Maharashtra a Shiv Sena CM again. It’s an icing on cake that it’s his own son who made this dream a reality. Rahul ji should learn from him to fulfil his mother’s dream,” the leader taunted in a tone of grudge on the fact that the Gandhis weren’t present for the ceremony.

NCP CONFIDENT THAT NOT CONGRESS BUT SHARAD PAWAR HOLDS THE KEY TO POWER FOR MAHA VIKAS AGHADI TO LAST 5 YEARS
Sources in NCP say that they would read much into this, “Everyone knows that Chief Minister is Uddhav Thackeray but the key to power and decision making is single handedly with Pawar Saheb. He is the one who holds the remote control to this government.”

Ask them on how long the Maha Vikas Aghadi will last, the NCP leader says with confidence, “As long as its Pawar saab calling the shots, be rest assured the government will complete its 5 years tenure.”
