Ganesh Naik accepts Vijay Chougule’s challenge removes Town planning director Owais Momin from NMMC

NCP stalwart Ganesh Naik seems to have accepted Opposition Leader Vijay Chougule’s challenge. NCP corporators followed the diktat of Ganesh Naik and have removed ADTP Momin Ovais from NMMC. It may be recalled that in the last general body meeting, Opposition Leader Vijay Chougule had given an open challenge to NCP that they could not remove ADTP Momin Ovais from NMMC as the state is ruled by the BJP – Shiv Sena government.

In the following General Body meeting, NCP corporators ensured that Momin Ovais was removed from NMMC. The drama unfolded as NCP Corporator Ravindra Ithape demanded if the enquiry report on ADTP Momin Ovais was submitted to the house.

He was backed by NCP corporators Suraj Patil and Anant Sutar.

The Mayor then informed the house that he had not received the report.

Following this Ravindra Ithape tabled a proposal to remove the ADTP from NMMC.

Mayor J D Sutar then tabled the proposal to remove ADTP Momin Ovais. To the shock of the house, even as the Commissioner Dr Ramaswamy N requested for a chance to speak, the Mayor J D Sutar once again rather arrogantly refused to even look at the Commissioner and the NCP corporators approved the proposal.

As most Sena corporators, including Opposition Leader Vijay Chougule were not present for unknown reasons, there was hardly any opposition to the proposal.

Sources in NMMC say that perhaps once again, the NCP struck a deal with the opposition and mutually decided to remove the ADTP from NMMC in a closed-door deal. In any case, the NCP showed the opposition its place atleast in NMMC, where only Ganesh Naik rules and the saffron sits in opposition. Bureau report – NMTV News.
