As the election code of conduct comes into effect, the political tempers and speculations have picked up speed all over Maharashtra. Even as there are media reports that it isn’t going all smooth in the talks between BJP and Shiv Sena for an alliance, political pundits believe come what may, an alliance is bound to happen between both. Like in many constituencies across the state, the political movement in Belapur constituency too is being closely followed. Navi Mumbai strongman Ganesh Naik’s entry in BJP has changed political equations completely. There are talks that sitting MLA Manda Mhatre might be asked to make way for Ganesh Naik while another section argues that since BJP has taken Airoli constituency from Shiv Sena to make way for Sandeep Naik’s BJP candidature, Shiv Sena will stake claim in Belapur. In Belapur, Vijay Nahata is eyeing candidature for the assembly polls. The speculations fired up recently when Yuva Sena President Aditya Thackeray staked claim for Belapur constituency. He had said he would come for Shiv Sena’s election and victory rally to Belapur.
Aditya Thackeray’s statements led to hushed up questions on former Minister Ganesh Naik’s prospects of contesting from Belapur or contesting the assembly polls at all. Now Ganesh Naik has brought these speculations to rest as he confirmed to NMTV that he will contest the polls. Ganesh Naik said that he has won as MLA from Belapur constituency that has been divided to six assembly constituencies. So he can contest form any one of these 6.
He went on to add that as the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said during his induction ceremony, Ganesh Naik will play a bigger role in development and progress of not just Navi Mumbai but the region as well.
On a question that he was however seen extensively campaigning in Belapur, Ganesh Naik said that wherever he is going he has appealed to people to stand by him from whichever constituency he will contest.
Going by Ganesh Naik’s words, he then could be the BJP candidate from Kalwa Mumbra, Ova Majiwada, Mira Bhayander, Belapur or Kopri Pachpakdi.
For those detractors and rivals of Ganesh Naik who thought that the Shiv Sena BJP alliance pact could move him out of the assembly elections race that is not happening. On the contrary, going by Ganesh Naik’s statement on contesting assembly elections, not only is team Ganesh Naik already working on his campaign in full swing but are also gearing up for seeing Ganesh Naik in a plum cabinet position, post the polls. #ZebaWarsia – NMTV News.
