Former Minister Ganesh Naik is known for not thinking twice before speaking. Hence, controversies are common to his public addresses. The NCP stalwart made another rather controversial statement in a recent public address when he termed his defeat to Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre and his son Sanjeev Naik’s defeat in Thane Lok Sabha to Rajan Vichare in 2014 as a “mistake” made by voters. He said that voters realized they made a mistake in both assembly and parliamentary polls of 2014 and they corrected this mistake in NMMC Elections that followed months later.
However when NMTV posed the same question to Ganesh Naik post the event, he was quick to correct the statement and said that it wasn’t a mistake of voters but a misunderstanding of sorts.
Voters of 2019 are much more alert, vigilant, sharp and media savvy than ever before and if the percentage of population online in Navi Mumbai, is one of the highest in the country. That is why it becomes imperative that leaders weigh every word, every promise and every statement made by then lest statements like these can be seen as arrogant. After all, voters know who they are voting for and their intelligence is unquestionable. Their decision can never be a mistake. Bureau report – NMTV News.
