Naveen Gavte – the Digha corporator – has always been surrounded by controversies of indulging in criminal cases. And even though it’s the court that will decide on his involvement or innocence, the public verdict on his action of backstabbing Ganesh Naik is already out.
THE CONTROVERSIAL GAVTES
The Gavtes have a stronghold in three wards in Digha – so from a municipal elections point of view – the Shiv Sena has been long eyeing the wards. Knowing that the criminal cases against Naveen Gavte is a weakness, they can capitalize on, the NMMC administration filed another case of fraud on Gavte cornering him to the extent that he went and kneeled down in front of Shiv Sena to bail him out of the situation.
HOW THE GAVTES TIMED THEIR ENTRY INTO SHIV SENA BACKSTABBING GANESH NAIK
The ironic part being – as the Gavtes arrived to meet Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to enter the Shiv Sena – Ganesh Naik was waging a war of words with the NMMC Commissioner Abhijit Bangar for their untimely and unjust action against Naveen Gavte.
However, little did Ganesh Naik know that the Gavtes had timed their entrance in Shiv Sena to the same time Ganesh Naik would be pursuing public-interest matters in regards to COVID-19 and post COVID-19 in NMMC. It’s the timing that Naveen Gavte chose to backstab Ganesh Naik has made his actions being criticized.
SHIV SENA’S DOUBLE STANDARD POLITICS
As word of his act spread in Navi Mumbai, social media was flooded with messages against Naveen Gavte and even Shiv Sena for showing double-standard politics of first making him an accused in a crime case and then inducting him in their party the very next day.
PUBLIC SUPPORT MOUNTS FOR GANESH NAIK
As for Ganesh Naik, the tallest leader of Navi Mumbai – has become the center of all public support. Since the lockdown – people have seen Ganesh Naik fighting against the virus from the frontlines – and as of today he has earned the respect of being the only leader to do so in 2020. For these very reasons, Naveen Gavte’s exit has intensified the sentiments in favour of Ganesh Naik and public support for him has mounted, more today than ever before.
