GOOD NEWS FOR MUMBAI – MAY NOT FACE WATER SHORTAGE

bmc-water--2It’s good news for Mumbaikars! If the reports of MCGM holds any water then the city would not face water shortage. According to the report the lakes of the city have been filled to more than what was last year. According to a report of MCGM, last year the level of water in the lakes was around 11 lakh 75 thousand 719 mld, which has now increased to 12 lakh 558 mld. The main lakes distributing water in Mumbai are Modak sagar, Tansa Vihar and Tulsi lake have been already filled with sufficient amount of water. The level of water of Upper Vaitarna and Bhatsa Lake will also reach the required level very soon. A survey of the water projects and lakes was undertaken by the Chief Water Engineer Madhukar Kamble along with Standing Committee Chairman Ravindra Vaikar. Also present in the survey were Standing Committee members Mangesh Satamkar and Dr Anuradha Pednekar along with other officials of water engineering department.
