The work on the Sotis flyover that was being built near the Thane Station flyover is expected to be completed soon and is likely to be open for commuters from the 15th of June. This was informed by TMC’s City Engineer K D Lala. For lakhs of residents of Thane, Mumbai’s rapidly-developing satellite city, getting to the railway station once the monsoon sets in is an annual nightmare was just getting worse. The reason being Thane Municipal Corporation’s ambitious flyover along the station road-the Rs 30-crore Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS)-a showcase project that was being funded under no less than the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. However, it might be some relief to the commuters now as the project is at the verge of completion and is likely to be open from the 15th of June. This SOTIS flyover will solve traffic problems faced from the Thane Railway station to Jambhali Naka. The city engineer also stated that the completion of the two-year project was on time.
