GOVERNMENT STAFF MAY SOON DECLARE ASSETS

namdav-bagat1Social Activist Anna Hazare’s has been demanding that government staff declare their assets. His continuous demand to make government employees declare their assets has paid up. The Maharashtra government has written to the central government for the provisions to make the disclosure mandatory. Apart from the disclosure of the property by the government employees, Hazare has been following up the implementation of the biometric mechanism for attendance in government offices in districts. Hazare has been complaining about the apathy in the government offices towards the public works. The state government has introduced biometric mechanism in the Mantralaya and has issued directives to the administrations at the district level to install the system as early as possible. Anna Hazare had few more demands in the charter and chief minister Ashok Chavan assured that the government will look into the issues seriously. EDU DEPT MADE FALSE CLAIMS, SAY TEACHERS Higher and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Tope may have announced a revision in pay scales for the striking college and university teachers but the teachers’ union has accused the government of doublespeak and slammed the higher education department for distorting their claims. The strike, which began over two weeks ago, is set to continue. College and university teachers are protesting the non-implementation of Sixth Pay Commission salaries for them as well as the “mistreatment” of teachers who were appointed between 1991 and 2000 and had not cleared either NET or SLET. Hazare said he was satisfied over the assurances given by the government. MCGM OPPOSES VADA PAV STALLS ON PREMISES OF HOSPS, SCHOOLS The Shiv Sena may have succeeded in bulldozing the administration to accept its Shiv Vada Pav scheme for providing employment. But now the administration is facing opposition from within, to the premises chosen for the scheme. There is opposition to setting up the vada pav centers in hospitals and on school premises. But MCGM is trying to find a solution and hopes it will have a final list of locations within a week.
