GUARDIAN MINISTER GANESH NAIK VOICES ANNOYANCE OVER POOR PERFORMANCE OF NMMT ON THE TRASNPORT’S 11TH FOUNDATION DAY

nmmt-foundation-day-1The NMMT celebrated its 11th Foundation Day with the announcement of commencing bus services on the route Badlapur to Belapur. With little being done to improve NMMT bus services, the Guardian Minister who arrived to participate in the ceremony voiced annoyance to Navi Mumbai News. The NMMT has officially commenced services on 23rd January 1996. The municipal transport began its services with 25 buses, and after 11 years has 226 more buses plying on various routes. With the aim of providing better services to commuters traveling to and from Thane, the NMMT has started buses between Badlapur and Belapur. Bus No. 47 to the Badlapur route was officially inaugurated at the hands of Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik in the presence of CIDCO Chairman Nakul Patil, NMMT Chairman Dhondu Mhatre and NMMT GM Sanjay Katkar amongst others. The dignitaries traveled in the 1st bus till APMC. To begin with, NMMT will run only three buses on the Badlapur – Belpaur route. The first will be at 7:15 am and the last 9:15pm and will halt on atleast 18 stops including Fire Brigade of Badlapur, Nevale village, Kalyan Phata and Belapur Railway Station. While NMMT announces buses on new routes, problems like poor condition of the buses and shortage of staff results in termination of services on existing routes. And services on one route is always terminated to begin services on a new route. Even Guardian Minister Ganehs Naik voiced annoyance on these problems that plague NMMT. For the last decade, NMMT has failed to fulfill promises of hi-tech buses and beginning bus services to Mumbai. Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik however had a word for assurance for the commuters. Will the words translate into action? Well, commuters definitely continue to hope against hope that these promises see the light of the day
