High turnout in 7th phase of Lok Sabha elections, West Bengal highest at 81.35%

Polling in 438 of the total 543 Lok Sabha constituencies came to an end as the seventh round of Lok Sabha elections are over. The highlight was that Telangana voted with enthusiasm as 70% polling was registered. The percentage of voters was highest in West Bengal with 81.35% exercising their right to vote.
In Gujarat, approx. 62% voters cast their votes. Vadodara, from where BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is contesting recorded 70% voting. In Bihar, the polling percentage was 60% while in Punjab it was 73%.

Two incidents that made headlines on April 30 were that a young voter stopped Union minister Chiranjeevi from jumping the queue at a polling booth in Hyderabad and two FIRs were booked against BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for posting a ‘selfie’ holding a lotus; which violated the election code of conduct.
