The historical Killa Gaothan Fort situated in Killa Gaothan belapur is in the process to be restored. Officials at CIDCO shared the details with our Correspondent Jan Cabral. The Killa gaothan fort has a rich history and should be treasured in Navi Mumbai as a heritage site. But over the years it has been neglected so much that today the fort is in a dilapidated condition. Finally CIDCO has taken the initiative to restore the fort so that it can become a tourist spot. The city makers have roped in the Kimaya Architects to work on the restoration work. Speaking to us they informed us that the fort has a four era history, the Navi Mumbaikars can come for jogging school can make trips so that children learn about forts history. This will take atleast one and half year for the fort to be restored. CIDCO’s Sr. Planner R N Dengle said that this is the only historical fort which needs to be preserved and so they chose M/s Kimaya Architects who have a good track record for restoring heritage sites. The Chief Architect and Planner of CIDCO informed their plan on restoring and developing the site and how they intend to involve students at the site as well. He added that the participation of children through drawing competitions will create an awareness in the young generation about the history behind Navi Mumbai’s own heritage site.
