HOME MINSTRY COMES DOWN HEAVILY ON NAVI MUMBAI POLICE FOR FLOUTING LADIES BAR ORDER- DCP R T SHINDE FORCED TO GO ON FORCED LEAVE

The lax behavior of the Navi Mumbai police was seen recently when dance bars in Navi Mumbai were raided by the Thane police department. Rapping the Navi Mumbai Police department on the same, the Home Ministry has ordered the immediate suspension of Navi Mumbai Zone 1 Commissioner RT Shinde. It was after a plea sent by an NGO to DGP AN Roy against illegal ladies bars running in Navi Mumbai that the Thane police department was directed to carry out the raids. The department also raided ladies bars in Thane. The matter was taken as top priority by the DGP who ordered the Mumbai and Thane police to raid the Navi Mumbai bars secretly. Following this, 3 bars in Navi Mumbai- Kapil, Daina and Pushpak were raided and 91 girls were arrested. Rapping the Navi Mumbai police department for failing to do its duty, DGP A N Roy along with the Home Ministry suspended the Navi Mumbai Zone1 Commissioner RT Shinde. Similar decision is expected to be meted out with the other senior officers at Vashi, APMC and Turbhe police station. We contacted the Commissioner of Police Ramrao Wagh who refused to make any comment or conclude anything. While the raids have caused chaos among the Navi Mumbai police, many ladies bar owners have decided to shut down shop for good. Bureau report – NMTV
