Imran Khan asks sons not to attend his oath-taking ceremony

Pakistan Prime Minister-elect Imran Khan has asked his sons — Sulaiman Isa Khan, Qasim Khan — not to attend his oath-taking ceremony today (Saturday), his former wife said Friday.

Jemima Goldsmith, who remained Mr Khan’s wife from 1995 to 2004, said the cricketer-turned politician’s sons will not be attending their father’s oath-taking ceremony.

She was responding to tweet by a Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) supporter, who said people wanted to see the sons of the Prime Minister-elect attend their father’s swearing-in ceremony. “They wanted to be there. Their father asked them not to come,” Jemima Goldsmith said.

Earlier in the day, lawmakers in the National Assembly endorsed Imran Khan as the next Prime Minister.

Imran Khan scraped together a simple majority in a confidence vote held in the lower house of parliament, three weeks after an election tainted by claims of military meddling and ballot rigging.
