Our Correspondent Rajeev Mishra reports how, if you are looking for having lips like Angelina Jolie or smile like Julia Roberts, you need not go very far. What we won’t do for beauty. Around Asia, women-and increasingly, men-are nipping and tucking, sucking and suturing, injecting and implanting, all in the quest for better looks. In the past, Asia had lagged behind the West in catching the plastic surgery wave, held back by cultural hang-ups, arrested medical skills and a poorer consumer base. But cosmetic surgery is now booming throughout Asia like never before and India is becoming one of the favorite destinations for this. Medical Tourism prides itself on having on board of some of the finest doctors, supported by high calibre nursing professionals and paramedical staff. Significant cost differences exist between the west and India when it comes to medical treatment. Accompanied with the cost are waiting times. India is not only cheaper but the waiting time is almost nil. This is due to the outburst of the private sector, which comprises of hospitals and clinics with the latest technology and best practitioners. Hence, it didn’t come as a surprise when British Super Model Samantha Birch arrived at Navi Mumbai’s Dr. D Y Patil Hospital and Research Center to get lips like Angelina Jolie from world-renowned cosmetic surgeon Dr. Vijay Sharma. Samantha underwent a surgery to get her thin lips altered by auto fat grafting to make them thick like Angelia Jolie.
