INDIA TO BECOME THE CHRONIC DISEASE CAPITAL BY 2025 – SAY EXPERTS

health-2Rising incidence of obesity, diabetes and hypertension – the three tell-tale signs of the impending health disaster that looms large over India – have become increasingly evident. So much so that, India is expected to become the chronic disease capital of the world by 2025. These lifestyle ailments have larger ramifications – chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease and stroke – all of which have the potential to kill. Experts say that there is a need to introduce preventive and detection programs for diabetes and hypertension. Statistics show that one in 10 Indians suffers from chronic kidney disease. The economic burden of these diseases is estimated to be Rs. 15, 01, 200 Crore by 2015. Bureau report NMTV
