Indian Army asks jawans to delete Facebook, bars 88 other apps too

After the Government banned  59 Chinese apps. The Officers and jawans of Indian Army have been also asked to immediaitely uninstall their Facebook and instagram accounts. It has also barred them from using 88 other apps, including PUBG.

The list of applications also includes Chinese apps like TikTok, BigoLive and WeChat, along with others such as Truecaller, Zoom and Vigo Video in order to “plug leakage of information”.

Among the apps which have been barred include some Indian applications like “Hike” messenger, which was founded by Bharti Airtel chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal’s son Kavin Mittal.

A Senior Army Official said “As far as Facebook is concerned, the army personnel are required to not just deactivate their accounts. They have to also deactivate their Facebook account,”

As per the sources, there are many cases where foreign spies used Facebook to target Indian personnel. However, There is strict warning sent by Army to its personnel that from July 15 action would be taken against any personnel using banned apps.

The Army personnel have also been asked to delete dating apps such as Tinder, Happn, TrulyMadly, Aisle, Coffee Meets Bagel, Couch Surfing, along with news apps such as Daily.
