Intelligence Officials have urged caution over a phone deal that will include routing of millions of phone calls and text messages in the United States. The officials have argued that this may pose as a risk to the nation’s surveillance secrets could be at risk.
The federal contract will include the winning company to act as an air traffic controller for the nation’s phone system, which is run by private companies but is essentially overseen by the government. An European-based company in most likely will be given the job. WHile the Intelligence Officials do not interfere in federal contracts but this time they have as they are concerned that it will hinder the government’s ability to trace reams of phone data used in terrorism and law enforcement investigations.
