Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei voices concern over Kashmir issue

Blaming the current situation of Kashmir on the British, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei took to Twitter on Wednesday and said that the region is scarred because of the British.

“The current situation in Kashmir and the disputes between India and Pakistan regarding it are a result of the vicious British government’s measures while leaving the Indian subcontinent,” he tweeted.

He further blamed the British saying that what they did with the region was intentional in order to sustain conflicts in Kashmir.

He also said that Iran has good relations with India but with the ongoing tensions after the abrogation of Article 370, they are concerned.

“We’re concerned about the Muslims’ situation in Kashmir. We have good relations with India, but we expect the Indian government to adopt a just policy towards the noble people of Kashmir and prevent the oppression and bullying of Muslims in this region.”

These comments come days after Pakistan sought help in the UN to internationalise the issue of abrogation of Article 370 and converting it into two union territories.

Most countries steered clear of the issue saying it was a bilateral issue.
