MPs in Britain are being offered free self-defence training techniques used by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad to equip them in the event of an attack, months after a woman lawmaker was killed in her constituency.
The fighting technique Krav Maga Hebrew for “contact combat” combines elements of judo, jujitsu, street fighting and boxing. It is taught as a defence against assailants with guns or knives and comes after a knife attack on 41-year-old MP Jo Cox, who was killed in her constituency in West Yorkshire, northern England, in June.
The free lessons, which are being provided by Parli-Training, are aimed at protecting MPs against stalkers, terrorists and political extremists, ‘The Daily Telegraph’ reports. Mendora Ogbogbo, Parli-Training founder, said: “We are teaching them techniques where if someone comes at them with a knife or a gun, they can disarm the weapons and then run. They are not being taught how to fight.” The technique was initially used by Israel’s secret intelligence agency Mossad.
