The Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal has stayed the transfer orders of 5 Navi Mumbai cops following an appeal filed by the cops in the tribunal. It may be recalled that in a move that raised eyebrows and triggered speculations, the Maharashtra Home Ministry had mooted the transfer of 52 officers in the same constituency where the 10th Thane Lok Sabha bye-elections were taking place. These included cops from Navi Mumbai as well. However, five Navi Mumbai cops feel that the transfer is biased and unjustified. These cops that include ACP Motilal Jadhav and ACP Nifade, SPIs D B Patil, B R Patil and Suryakant Gatke filed an appeal against the transfer in the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal. The tribunal has stayed the transfer of the cops. The final judgment of the tribunal is still awaited, informed the Navi Mumbai Police Chief. The cops say that they had not completed three years on their respective posts. The cops believe that there are reasons for them to believe that the transfers were done at a crucial election time due to some political pressure of sorts.
