After being pulled up by the Bombay High Court over the ‘sorry’ state of security in government-run hospitals, the state government on Friday told the court that it has decided to deploy four armed policemen in 16 hospitals throughout the state.
Additional government pleader informed the division bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Amjad Sayed that the government would be deploying four armed policemen in 16 of its hospitals across the state. The said cops would be patrolling the hospitals round-the-clock.
The decision of the government came after the bench pulled it up in the previous hearing.
Meanwhile, the advocate representing the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) informed the bench that the Grievance Redressal Forum (GRF) has not conducted even a single meeting, to resolve the problems of the doctors.
It may be recalled that the bench had earlier constituted the GRF to resolve the grievances of the doctors and had appointed Justice (retd) VC Daga as chairman of the said committee.
After hearing this, the bench directed the government to take instructions from Justice (retd) Daga about his availability. The bench also directed the government to appoint some other retired Judge to head the committee, if Justice (retd) Daga is unavailable due to some reaons.
The bench would next be hearing the matter on August 12.
