You give sweets to mark your birthday but Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik gave a more special gift to the students of the municipal school – Manisha Vidyalaya at Vashi that too in advance. The Minister performed the bhumi pujan ceremony for a new building of the school. This one will definitely go down as a historical moment for the city. Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik performed the bhumi pujan ceremony for the always-in-news-for-wrong-reasons Manisha Vidyalaya. This might be the first day in the school’s history when the parents, teachers and 700 hundred students might actually be happy to come to school. Due to lack of repair and maintenance ever since it was made, Manisha Vidyalaya reeled under such dangerous conditions that the NMMC Engineering Dept. itself declared it unsafe for occupancy. For several years, the issue of repair and reconstruction of Manisha Vidyalaya was raised but in vain as it was never seriously mooted by NMMC. But one may recall that much hope was pinned on Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik who in his pre-elections interview with NMTV had promised to take up the cause of Manisha Vidyalaya and living up to the promise made then, his initiative has finally given way to a new building for Manisha Vidyalaya. The Minister performed the bhumi pujan ceremony of the school. The new building will be built on an area of 15133 sq. ft. for a cost of Rs. 1 Crore 20 Lakhs. It will be a Ground + 1 Floored structure with 16 classrooms. Undoubtedly Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s initiative has given a new lease of life not just to the school building but every student who come to the municipal school. The smiles on the face of the students and parents amidst the Minister were the more heartening sight of the historical moment. With Abhay Prasad, Milind Tambe for Navi Mumbai News.
