With the number of students attending municipal schools decreasing day by day, many MCGM schools are on the verge of closure. Hence, MCGM administration has decided to divide the students studying here. According to the rules laid down by MCGM, the schools run by MCGM should have minimum of 30 students failing which the school needs to be shut down. But day-by-day the number of students studying in these schools are decreasing. This has resulted in four schools closing with the jobs of its teachers in the lurch. Keeping this in mind, the MCGM administration has decided to reduce the figure from 30 to 25 students. Addressing this issue, MumbaiMayor Shraddha Jadav said that any school that has 140 students will shell out its students to 2 schools in the proportion of 40-40 whereas; the other 2 schools will receive the students in the proportion of 30-30. Hence, in this way the 140 students will be divided into 4 different schools. Shraddha Jadhav believes that this way neither the school will shut down nor the jobs of teachers endangered.
