MCGM which is pondering over additional water cuts, has submitted a letter to the state government for supplying the additional water accumulated, if any, in the Bhatsa and Upper Vaitarna lakes. Looking at the acute water crises and reducing level of water in lakes, the MCGM has already imposed 15% water cut in the city. Inspite of this, MCGM is unable to supply continuous water to the citizens. Therefore, MCGM has submitted a letter to the state government requesting to look into the matter. MCGM commissioner Swadhin Kshatriya informed that a study regarding additional water cut has been done and they are waiting for the state government’s decision. It has been stated in the letter that if the extra accumulated water at Bhatsa and Upper Vaitarna is supplied in the city, there is no requirement of additional water cut besides the 15% cut. He also informed that a meeting regarding the issue has been done with the secretary of the state chief minister and the final decision will be taken in the next meeting, after which appropriate action will be taken.
