The Government will set up Medical Intelligence Tourism Board to facilitate inbound tourism and to generate new ideas for attracting more tourists including medical tourists, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma said today.
Sharma, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism and Culture, said that the first meeting of the Board would take place soon.
“The Government will limit its role to facilitating and coordinating in bringing stakeholders together and creating an ecosystem that promotes tourism”, he said addressing the CII Health Summit here.
Referring to the huge potential that India has in medical tourism, the Minister said that the achievement on the ground was not commensurate, according to a CII release.
“All stakeholders should join hands to dissect the problems and to evolve ameliorative measures”, he added.
Sharma mentioned that the Government is taking certain critical measures for attracting tourists into the country.
