Members create ruckus over failure of administration to implement Sixth Pay Commission for contract cleaning workers

The NMMC Standing Committee members created ruckus over the failure of the administration to implement Equal Work, Equal wages to the contract cleaning laborers in the city.

The NMMC Standing Committee members raised concern over the failure of the NMMC administration to implement Equal Work, Equal Wages to the contract cleaning laborers of the city. Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik had directed the NMMC administration to implement the Equal Work, Equal Wages policy for contract workers working in NMMC since the year 2006 but till today NMMC administration has not implemented this policy. The issue was raised by Standing Committee member Shivram Patil who demanded that the proposal should be brought in as soon as possible. Speaking to NMTV News, he spoke on his demand stating that these are the workers because of whom Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has received several cleanliness awards and no justice was done to them.

He added that the NMMC Commissioner Bhaskar Wankhede had assured them of bringing a proposal in the General Body in the month of August. On the other hand, Standing Committee Chairman Ramesh Shinde has ordered the administration to bring the proposal as soon as possible.
