With the aim to develop the city, CIDCO is undertaking many major projects, one of which is the Metro Rail project. The project to be completed in two phases is estimated at a cost of Rs 3100 crore. The Metro Rail project is soon going to become a reality for the satellite city. CIDCO has tied up with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for technical advice for the proposed Metro Rail project in Navi Mumbai. The agency has already ruled out underground metro and officials have confirmed that the entire route will be elevated only. DMRC had undertaken a survey of Navi Mumbai to check the project’s feasibility. The project will be spread from Belapur to Taloja via Kharghar. The entire project is expected to be completed at a cost of Rs 3100 crore. The first phase will expected to see an expenditure of Rs 1700 crore. Till now, CIDCO has received 7 bids for this project and is expecting more in the coming months. Unlike other of its major projects, CIDCO would not have to rehabilitate any settlements for this project, but it would have to give special attention to the High-tension wires and the Diva-Panvel rail line crossing on this route. CIDCO has finally received the state notification for the proposed Metro Rail. The notification is now open for objections or clarifications, if any.
