MULUND RAILWAYS START NEW CAMPAIGN TO STOP PEOPLE WALKING OVER TRACKS

A campaign has been initiated by the Mulund railway authorities to prevent people from crossing rail tracks. The campaign aims at maximum usage of foot over bridges. From January 2009 till May 2009, 27 people have died due to train accidents whereas in the year 2008, 64 accidents took place. Four accidents have taken place due to falling from train whereas other accidents have occurred while crossing railway tracks. In a bid to curb this issue, the Mulund railway authorities have started a campaign where anyone crossing the railway tracks would be given a rose flower and their relatives duly informed. The authorities hope that the accident numbers would come down with this initiative. From Thane, Manoj Singh for NMTV news.
