A gathering between the Mumbai police and school principals was held to speak on the safety of students. More than 150 principals of several schools across the city had come together to launch the Safe Schools Safe Students campaign. Speaking during this gathering the additional commissioner of police (south region), Pratap Dighavkar said that one constable, one school could bring down the number of crimes in the institutes’ premises.
Speaking at the event, Dighavkar said, “Every police station must take charge of the school in its area. One school one constable can ensure that sexual offences are down by at least 50%. We have tried this in the South Mumbai and this must be made a norm for all schools.”
