The Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate has sent a bill of Rs 1 crore 70 lakhs to the IPL management for providing security at the 4 matches held in Navi Mumbai. However, with two more matches added at the D Y Patil stadium, this bill is likely to increase, informed DCP HQ N D Chauhan. The opening and the closing of the IPL matches was held in Navi Mumbai. The Navi Mumbai police department has sent a bill of Rs 1 crore 70 lakh to the IPL management for stationing security during these two matches. According to IPL schedule four matches were to be held in Navi Mumbai. However, after the Chennai blast, two more matches were diverted in Navi Mumbai making it 6 days for the Navi Mumbai Police to endure that peace and harmony was maintained during these matches. The expenditure during all these matches is a total of Rs 6 crore 5 lakhs out which bill for Rs 1 crore 70 lakhs have been sent yet. Sources inform that recovering such a huge amount from the IPL management is going to be a tough task for the Navi Mumbai Police as earlier it was Lalit Modi who was the IPL Commissioner and with his suspension, the impact might also be felt on the police department.
