Besides the morcha, the leaders said that they would approach the court and try to get a stay on the drive. The conference was attended by Sena leader and former Cidco director Namdev Bhagat, Congress city chief Dashrath Bhagat, former mayor Sagar Naik of NCP, Vaibhav Naik of BJP, PAP leaders Shyam Mhatre, Rajesh Patil and Mahendra Patil. So far, Cidco has pulled down over 150 buildings in the NMMC area apart from Kharghar, Kamothe, Kalamboli and Ulve.
“We will not allow Cidco to raze our homes. The structures that had come up even before 2012 are also being targeted, though Cidco has made it clear that these structures will be spared. We need a proper survey of all gaothan houses and then verify property documents before taking such action,” said Rajesh Patil.
The former mayor Sagar Naik, too, spoke against the drive. “This morcha will show the strength of PAPs. It is Cidco’s responsibility to create a gaothan expansion area for PAPs,” said Naik.
