Mumbai : In a debate that took place in the on going budget session of Maharashtra Legislature’s Budget Session, the status of Navi Mumbai Super City was endorsed. Airoli MLA Sandeep Naik raised the issue of increasing the capacity of CETP in the industrial area so that hazardous waste is not dumped in nullahs in the city. On this NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad raised the issue of mis-use of central government funds that were given to Shiv Sena ruled Thane Municipal Corporation.

Indirectly targeting Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde, Jitendra Awhad said that Shiv Sena leaders were involved in corruption and misusing central government funds, as a result Thane has not started scientific disposal of waste in a dumping ground. BJP’s Ashish Shelar said that the condition of BMC is no different. The debate reflected poorly on Shiv Sena that rules both BMC and TMC. Meanwhile Navi Mumbai continues to boast of scientific disposal at Turbhe dumping ground and recycling sewerage water in hi tech STP plants before leaving the same in the sea.
