NAVI MUMBAI TRAFFIC POLICE TO BEGIN SPECIAL DRIVE TO CHECK ELECTION CODE OF CONDUCT VIOLATIONS TILL OCT 13

Beginning from tomorrow, the Navi Mumbai traffic police is going to conduct a special drive till elections on 13th October. With political parties easily making liquor available for party workers during elections, the work for police during elections increases and so do cases of drinking and driving. Monika Bhosale caught up with ACP Srikant Dhiwre on the drive. Navi Mumbai Traffic police will undertake a special drive beginning from 1st October till 13 October. Since the election code of conduct was declared, the police have been on alert. Last week itself 130 cases were registered by the traffic police. Most of these cases include driving after drinking. During elections it is a known fact political parties make liquor available for party workers that mostly end up in an increase in cases of drinking and driving. ACP Srikant Dhiwre informed that the police is focusing on six areas of violation this time round. In the drive of the traffic police till the 13th, the police will booked violations under the Motor Vehicle Act IPC and violations of election code of conduct norms. He said that whichever political parties will conduct rallies and public meetings will have to keep the police informed about the technical details of vehicles and speakers and others prior to the meeting.
