Navi Mumbai’s flamingo tours resume

The Mangrove & Biodiversity center at Airoli is one of the most popular visitors spot in Navi Mumbai.

With monsoon season coming to an end, the flamingo tours have been resumed by the state’s mangrove cell. In the tours, boat rides given visitors a view of the flamingos, seagulls, mangroves and eco life at the creek.

The boat tour is from Airoli to Vashi and Vikhroli area.

This is a first-of-its-kind centre to study India’s marine ecology and its creation has increased coastal activity. The 7,000 square foot centre has been divided into two parts. The first section is dedicated to coastal biodiversity, with exhibits on mangroves and aquatic life found on the coasts of the country. The other section is for marine biodiversity that aims to showcase exhibitions on whales, dolphins and turtles among others. From audio-visual displays and touch screen media stations to educate visitors, the center has displays of marine and land ecology, coastal, marine and mangrove interpretation room and interactive display among others.
