The Project Affected People in Navi Mumbai and the challenges they face are aplenty. While the issue has always been one that echoed in elections of both parliamentary and assembly, but the fire on it has never flared on the issue as it does now. And it’s mostly because never has the issue become so political as it has now. All hell broke loose yet again when the Chief Minister announced a survey of gaonthan areas.

Soon after, a war of words began between BJP MLA Manda Mhatre who made allegations on NCP and Agri Koli Youth Foundation whose President Nilesh Patil made allegations on MLA Manda Mhatre of having a nexus with CIDCO and builders. Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre on the other hand, in a first, took on Airoli MLA Sandeep Naik. She said despite being a MLA for 10 years, Sandeep Naik failed to get a policy decision on PAPs. But local PAP leaders of both Congress and NCP beg to differ with the allegations.

PAPs in Navi Mumbai voted for BJP Shiv Sena government with hopes and belief that justice would be done to them and most importantly, their homes will be regularized. As five years of the Fadavnis government tenure comes to an end, the unrest among PAPs in Navi Mumbai has increased as they feel that they have been let down again. Now it remains to be seen, who the PAPs place their faith in next as the issue will gain paramount importance in the assembly elections due in October. With bureau inputs Zeba Warsia for NMTV News.
