NEED TO CHANGE LAWS TO CLEAR PENDENCY OF CASES – SAYS PRESIDENT PRATIBHA PATIL

pratibha-patilPresident Pratibha Patil has stressed the need to reform the existing judicial system so that cases are heard and closed in a speedy manner, providing timely justice to the poor. Speaking during the inauguration of Maharashtra Judicial Academy at Uttan in neighboring Thane district, President Pratibha Patil urged the state, law committee and the judiciary system to work towards making the judicial system more transparent. She stated that nowadays running to court with their cases had become an expensive procedure for the people and hence advocated a reform in existing laws to provide speedy justice to the poor. She further stated that those working in the judicial system must be trained on the important laws related t justice and environment. Present along with the President was Governor S C Jamir, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Chief Justice of India K G Balkrishnan, Supreme Court Justice S H Kapadia and other dignitaries.
