Nirbhaya gang rape case finally comes to an end with all four accused sentenced to death by hanging, India

Not only India but maybe the whole world was waiting for the verdict of Nirbhaya’s gang rape case that had happened in a moving bus in New Delhi. Nirbhaya (the real mane had not been revealed as yet) a physio therapy student was been raped in a moving bus by six men. Rape in India has been rising with each day, but the Nirbhaya gang rape case had left the whole nation shocked. The victim was not only raped brutally but with an intention of killing her the accused inserted an iron rod inside the girl stomach damaging and pulling her intestine and then throwing her out of the bus along with one of her friend who was also present in the bus, but was unable to do anything as he had also been beaten unconscious by the culprits.
“I welcome this decision. The judge has also said it was the rarest of rare cases. We had worked hard and presented the evidence. The verdict will send out a strong message. The victim and her family have finally got justice. Judicial authority follows law, not political pressure. The death penalty in this case will act as a deterrent. It is an example to all those criminals, that if you commit this crime, this is the punishment you will get” as stated by Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.
At one point where Prosecution lawyer Dayan Krishnan rejoiced at the verdict, on the other hand Defense Counsel are all set to take the case to Delhi High Court appealing for mercy for all accused. Defense Counsel believes that even if the culprits have committed a crime, they should be given one chance to mend their ways as death is irreversible while the purpose of justice is reform and reconciliation.
Accept for the Defense Counsel and the family members of all accused, the whole nation expressed their happiness for the verdict. Be that politician of any party, stars, activists, all are speaking in one voice “Justice has been served”.
