Where Vijay Nahata succeeded, Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre failed miserably.
When Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre won the assembly elections in 2014, defeating NCP strongman Ganesh Naik, she was seen as a giant killer. But soon after, her win was termed as an outcome of the Modi wave. The NMMC elections were a litmus test for Manda Mhatre to prove her detractors wrong. Unfortunately for Manda Mhatre, her detractors were right as Manda Mhatre performance in NMMC polls reads “zero”. Her attitude and language with party workers compelled a soft spoken BJP leader Varsha Bhosale to protest Manda Mhatre’s Taaigiri.
Things turned uglier when a physical face off happened between Manda Mhatre and Varsha Bhosale faction and the matter reached the CBD Police Station. This maligned the image of Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre. With BJP winning only 6 seats out of 43, its official : Manda Mhatre has no mass following or support of party workers in Navi Mumbai.
An embarrassed state BJP has now asked Manda Mhatre to submit a report on the poor performance of BJP in the polls. Bureau report – NMTV News.
