We bring to you a detailed report on the discussions held under the headship of NMMC Standing Committee Chairman Anant Sutar. The NMMC Standing Committee saw 17 proposals being approved by the NMMC Standing Committee. The proposals concerned several significant issues pertaining to the city. One of the important discussions held was that of the condition of crematoriums in the city. Standing Committee Member Shivram Patil raised concern on the issue stating that it was over an year that the standing committee members were demanding better conditions at city crematoriums but the administration still failed to do so. Referring to the crematorium in his ward and the problems faced by residents due to it, he demanded that the administration come up with a solution as soon as possible. Other members too spoke on the poor condition of crematoriums in their ward. Shivram Patil also demanded to know when the administration was planning to provide 24/7 water supply to Navi Mumkaikars. NMMC Standing Committee Chairman Anant Sutar while speaking to the media informed that this year budget included the crematoriums issue which would be addressed. He added that the NMMC Commissioner had assured that the crematoriums that were reeling under pathetic condition would be soon brought into the standing committee for discussion. The NMMC Standing Committee also paid tribute to Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Ambedkar as 14th of April is observed as the birth anniversary of the visionary leader. They also wished birthday to Thame MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik on his birthday on 15th April. However, while paying tribute and the wishes, heated discussions were witnessed between standing committee member Dashrath Bhagat and Shivram Patil. The argument started when Dashrath Bhagat questioned whether the congratulatory banners and hoardings had taken the permission from NMMC. Criticizing the statement passed by opposition members Dashrath Bhagat, Chairman Anant Sutar said that Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar was a visionary leader for the nation and banner put up to praise this leader should not be questioned for permission.
