There’s good news for those who keep on visiting the headquarters for putting up small advertisements and hoardings as now the permission would be given by the ward officer of that particular area. Today along with the huge hoardings small banners and posters have also become a means for advertising out of which most of them are illegal. The advertisers do this in order to avoid wastage of time and money of going to the municipal headquarters that is situated in CBD Belapur. This often results in huge revenue loss for NMMC. Therefore, as per sections 244 and 245 of Mumbai Regional Municipal Act 1949, the responsibility of granting permission for small hoardings would now be given to the ward officers of the respective areas. The ward officers can therefore be able not only to keep a track of the illegal hoardings but also to take necessary action against them. This decision would be most beneficial to Vashi node that is dotted with illegal hoardings, banners and posters making the skyline of this node very ugly.
