This week’s NMMC Standing Committee saw no approval on the proposals presented by the administration as election code of conduct is into effect for the election of one member to the legislative council by the teachers in the Konkan region. The NMMC administration presented a total of six proposals for approval to the NMMC Standing Committee. However, none of the proposals could be taken up by the Standing Committee Chairman due to election code of conduct which will be in effect till 30th November. The code of conduct has been implemented for the elections of a member to the Legislative Council by the teachers in the Konkan region. NMMC Standing Committee chairman Anant Sutar informed that a letter was sent to NMMC for abiding the election code of conduct until the elections were over. Since last year, there has been three election code of conducts in the city, this being the fourth. In the past leaders of the city and corporators have voiced the need to draw a complete line of demarcation because often the election code of conducts effected in Navi Mumbai in the last one year did not have anything to do with elections in the municipal corporation here, yet public work and decision on public issues were stalled due to them. This is something that needs correction at the earliest in the interest of citizens in Navi Mumbai. With cameraperson Satish Garud, Sana Warsia for NMTV News.
