The Standing Committee Chairman Vijay Chougele conducted the standing committee meeting and got all the subjects on the agenda approved even as Congress, Shiv Sena and Independent members continued to stand and shout slogans denouncing the high handedness of the Standing Committee Chairman in refusing to heed the opposition’s demand to stop work of the Super Speciality Hospital of Hiranandani at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Hospital at Vashi till the Town Planning Office Rajendra Habde produces the copy of the Commencement Certificate of the said construction. The Town Planning Office has failed to submit the same inspite of the members demanding of it since the last 3 weeks. It is reliably learnt that the work has commenced without the Commencement Certificate. The TPO’s absence in the meeting irked the members further. Vithal More alleged that the administration was purposely keeping the TPO away from the Standing Committee meetings for this violation. Shivram Patil, Vithal More and Ramakant Mhatre demanded stopping of the work immediately. Standing Committee Chairman Vijay Chougele requested the members to calm down as he was informed by Habde of his daughter’s operation. When DMC Sinnarkar informed that the administration was appointing a supervisor to check the inconvenience being caused to patients and whether there were violations, Vijay Chougele retorted that this was not the reply to the queries of opposing member. He further instructed the him to see to it that officials depute their deputies to reply issues raised in previous meetings. The SC approved the Municipal Commissioner’s proposal to create 84 new posts for the fire fighting dept. of NMMC in lieu of the growing urbanization and industrialization in the area. The SC approved the tender bid of M N Kalbhor for constructing the protective wall for the Sewage Treatment Plant in sector 12, CBD at a cost of Rs. 44.07 Lakhs. The SC approved the bid of Ashirwad Construction for construction of a cultural center building in the Shiv Colony ground in Airoli at a cost of Rs. 26.92 lakhs, which includes a stage, two dressing rooms and 2 toilets on the ground floor and library and gymnasium on the 1st floor.
