Opposition Demands Probes Of Maha BJP Chief’s Double Vote Remark

MumbaiThe Opposition has demanded a probe into state BJP chief Raosaheb Danve’s statement urging the residents of Vidarbha to vote twice. Danve had told a social gathering that many people from Vidarbha, who are settled in Mumbai exercise their franchise twice.
He added that in Mumbai they vote for Shiv Sena and for BJP in Vidarbha since their names appear in two electoral lists. When he realized that the comment would result in a controversy, he clarified that under the Constitution, a voter can exercise his franchise once and that his/her name should also appear only in one constituency.
