During the second lottery for admissions to the 25% seats reserved under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, over 1,200 seats were allotted to students. The lottery process is generally conducted two months prior to ending of the academic year.
Of 1,293 children who were allotted a seat, 1,015 were in state board schools and 278 in boards like CBSE, ICSE and others. Of the allocations, 778 were in the pre-primary section and the rest in Class I.
Education Inspector Nisar Khan said that the completion of the first admission round was delayed as many non-state board schools refused admissions or had not updated data on the websites.
