“Pay a lac for wasting our time,” says High Court as it rejects Kalmadi’s pleas to attend monsoon session of parliament

The Kalmadi episode is turning out to be a major embarrassment for the Congress party, maligning the public image of the party.

The setback continues as the Delhi High Court has rejected Kalmadi’s plea for attending the on going state monsoon session.

While passing the order in the case, Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw said that, “I find no merit in the petition. The petition is dismissed with cost of one lakh and the same should be deposited with the prime minister’s relief fund.”

The additional solicitor general AS Chandhiok, appearing for the Centre has stated in his affidavit, “As per the medical report of Kalmadi, he is suffering from various ailments, including loss of memory and neurological infractions. If this is the condition of an MP, what will he remember from his constituency and present before Parliament?”
