A Mumbai based NGO “People’s Welfare Charitable Trust” has joined hands with the Income Tax Dept in Mumbai for a unique initiative. The NGO has invited first time income tax filers to file their returns free of cost. The initiative is applicable to those who earn an annual income of less than 2.5 Lakh Rupees. The NGO has brought chartered accountants from across Mumbai to join the initiative under one banner of “Income Tax Outreach Programme.” In an event held in Mumbai to celebrate Income Tax Day, the People’s Welfare Trust led by its Founder and Managing Trustee Manthan Ruparelia’s contribution was acknowledged.
The People’s Welfare Trust has also joined the Government of India initiative further to give push to the “Kardata E Sahyog Abhyan.” The aim of the is to increase the base number of tax paying citizens and strengthen the nation building exercise being undertaken on war footing by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Special focus of this initiative will be on senior citizens and youth to encourage them to file their taxes. Speaking to NMTV, CA Manthan Ruparelia said that they are providing help across 22 e-sahyog centers to help tax paying citizens.
Other participating members said that aim is to increase base of citizens paying income tax.
