On Saturday Morosini while playing for Livorno against Pescara in the Italian second division suffered from a heart attack on the field. He was immediately been given a heart massage, before taking him to the Santo Spirito Hospital in Pescara, where the staff failed to revive him and shortly was declared dead. For those who knew Piermario Morosini, it was like a extremely sudden and tragic end of a young and talented football player whose life was already scarred by family members tragedy. Morosini had already lost his father and mother at the age of 15, shortly after some time his disabled brother also committed /suicide. After that only his handicapped older sister remained.
Morosini played for his country at the European under 21 Championship in Sweden in 2009, but despite making his debut for Udinese at the age of 19, his career failed to take a top flight as thereafter he went out on loan to one club after another but was never able to come back and establish himself in the Italian top flight. He played for six clubs during his short career, testament to a character who was determined to prove his ability not just for himself but also for his family.
Friends, fans and the football world, all are mourning the premature death of a very talented player as they remember him as an incredibly gentle young man with a sad face, who was always there for his teammates in any kind of situation. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV
