PIL MAY BE THE FINAL SOLUTION FOR GRIEVED PALM BEACH RESIDENTS

mangrovesTired of appealing to NMMC and CIDCO to look into their problems and fulfill promises made by authorities, the Palm Beach Residents’ Welfare Association has decided to file a PIL against CIDCO and NMMC. The posh surroundings of Palm Beach where several high-class societies are located is lacking the basic clean environment of living because of NMMC, say residents. NMMC, which collects around Rs.4 crores from all these societies, has always neglected the needs of the residents of this area, they add. The area lacks a neat and clean road as the current road is used more as a dumping ground of soil, and the piles of soil deposited here are a clear evidence of the fact. The roads also don’t have any lampposts and so no light is available on the streets after dark. The residents also don’t have a playground or joggers’ park as promised by CIDCO during sale of flats. The plot, which has provided by the CIDCO for playground is captured by the slum dwellers to make illegal slums, which not only disturb the posh locality of the area but is also a serious health and hygiene threat. The RWA has many a times given complaints to the NMMC and CIDCO in the form of letters but no legitimate action has been taken from the other side, which has now left the association with only one place to go to and the 200 odd societies out here have decided to file a petition against NMMC and CIDCO for negligence of work.
