Prime Minister Narendra Modi was elected as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) during a meeting of all the alliance partners. Before meeting President Ram Nath Kovind to stake claim to form the government, PM Modi said representatives who had been elected should not differentiate between people on the basis of caste, region and religion, and that it was the responsibility of all elected Members of Parliament MPs to not just work for those who had faith in us but also try to win the trust of others. Talking about the work done for the socially and financially weaker section of people in the five years of the NDA under him, Modi said the message for the coming five years was not just development for all, but also to win the trust of everyone.

The Prime Minister said that for the 130 crore people of the country, they cannot differentiate on the basis caste and religion or region. He said that they have shown how to achieve Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas that is development for all and now they have to win Sabka Vishwas that is trust of everyone.

Talking about the mandate given to the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA, PM Modi said that the increment the BJP got in votes is equivalent to the total votes polled by US President Donald Trump in his elections.

Cautioning the elected MPs of the VIP culture and the distaste of people for the VIP culture, PM Modi said they should not expect any special treatment just because they were MPs and should work with the mission of removing the tag of poor from India.
