PM Narendra Modi addressed the newly elected members of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance for the first time since his enormous national election victory. He said minorities had been cheated by the opposition and that it must stop immediately. He said that the way the poor have been cheated, the minorities have been deceived the same way. It would have been good if their education, their health had been taken care of. In 2019, he said he expected the MPs to punch a hole in that deception and earn the trust of minorities.
He said that the environment of fear and false promises have been made to minorities because they have been silent. He said now they have to fight against poverty and the false sense of fear created among minorities. And this should be done like the revolt of 1857.
The BJP scored 303 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha in the national election and along with its allies, won a remarkable tally of 353. Moments before the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address, the formality of allies naming him as the undisputed leader of the NDA was carried out in the Central Hall of parliament amid loud applause, desk-thumping and chants of “Modi, Modi”. Top alliance leaders, including Janata Dal United Chief Nitish Kumar, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray and Akali Dal’s Parkash Singh Badal were in the meeting. On the dais, senior BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi flanked PM Modi. Zeba Warsia – NMTV News.
